A person, who could amazing copy other people's styles admitted to me that she could not copy my style of art. That is amazing because she has copied two styles that are rather different from her own.

So, it has made me think more that maybe my style is pretty safe with me, simply because of how different it is from more common styles out there, even in the traditional department. I think I really should try and share some of my personal ideas and techniques in a somewhat formal online class.

I would plan on taking only 3 students so I could give them close attention individually. I would pick these three from a "test" I would give out that would be more like submitting a portfolio then anything else. I do not want something that is too much opinion based since it would be easy to be bias against. These positions are judged mostly on creativity and the ability to control a pencil. Having a personal connection to me will help you only a little as I want it to be fair since I am choosy about my friends.

Actually, I am not sure how much of a class this really is since I too want to do work with the students. Many projects will be done involving things even I do not do much with. Thus, it is more of a class to stimulate thought then technique though technique will be thrown in to a minor extent.

And I want to make this for sure. My style will be the focus of the class, which is: science fictional realistic surrealism. No fantasy allowed.

Topics that will be investigated are:

~Planets: Landscape and from Space

~Vulpines and Canines mostly. Little if anything outside of these but there may be come exceptions. This is mostly so I can help with anatomy. I will not completely discourage felines is what I am meaning by this.

~Pencil strokes using Derwent and/or Prismacolor pencils.

~Out of class assignment investigations in media beyond standard colored pencils such as watercolor pencils.

~Developing personal background strategies or trademarks using "Star Stream", "Star Scream", and "Star Sheen" as examples.

There will be a grading system which will likely be set up like the American grading system simply because I am not sure of how to do it any other way. The grades are mostly used to determine how you are doing in the class. Some rewards may be given based on grades. This is to encourage maximum effort rather then just will alone which can be discouraging after a while.

These are my thoughts for now on the class. I will give the warning that I do plan to withhold all rights to disband the class if I cannot handle it. Right now I think I could handle it since the dead of winter is when I tend to not be mentally ill *proven fact*.

Now, the following is the portfolio submission requirements (your application to the class):

Design three brand new, fresh characters for the class. If accepted, these are the characters you will use the most in class. Copyrighted characters from video games or t.v. shows will not be allowed in class. This is to encourage originality. These characters should be in three "difficulties". One easy or quick to do. Another somewhat longer or more difficult to do then the first. The last one should be hard and long to do. Announce these characters upon submission as to which is which. These characters should also have stories behind then interrelating them so they can logically be used together in one picture. Feline, vulpine, and/or canine characteristics required. Dragons are allowed but discouraged.

Design a planet that these characters all live on. You should draw up to three different landscapes of the planet or a picture of the planet from space (include things that can be seen from the sky such as moons, rings, stars (suns), ect). These do not need to be your best of skills but the better the better you will be judged.

I plan on accepting these entries up to the 15th of November so plan accordingly. I do not want to have to wait and you may get penalized if this does happen.

Well, I hope with this class I can promote a healthy, creative environment. That is all I can really teach. Ideas rather then skills because I do not have much to offer in that department.
