What do you feel my art needs? What can I do to make myself discard those votes that voted for "you charge too much for your skill level"? Just an opinion. I will try to figure out how to fix what you say if I feel it is really true.

"Or..... do you suggest a different path?"

yes

advice one: stop ASKING people to hold your hand.push you through the art door and do it yourself.

advice two: STOP GETTING INVOLVED IN "ART" THAT DESTROYS ARTISTIC PROGRESS! i do not care what any one says, there is certian subjects out there that destroy art and the potential of the artist.

A suggestions for improving: Take a big pile of copy paper, a good amount of pencils and a stop watch. Use no more than one minute on each drawing, and try to get a whole figure on that time. Pick what character you want to draw and draw the same character each time, and try to make emotions or poses on each drawing. Try to complete 60 drawing in one hour. Do this from time to time will grately improve your skill

Don't worry if your not finished or satisfied with one, move on to the next when the time is up. You can go back later to see if there is some that is to your liking (thus continue on with it) but this is only for the improvement of the inner eye (don't let you get time to think, thus you draw straight from the inner most eye) use fast flowy lines, no clean ups.

I've done this to rarely (and never survived the hour) But I sure noticed the difference. I should try it again myself (I found this advice online some time ago, and those who have done it to it's full improved fast)

You can do the same with techniques too I bet =)

You really have to expand and tackle other subjects and styles. But the one true answer to all of your artistic needs lies in the environment around you. Break down objects into separate colors and shapes really study the contours--- find the differences in values that create edges.
You also need to be familiar with the Elements of Art and Design. Learn what the real meaning of Line, Shape, Color, Balance, Rhythm, Movement, Unity, and Composition is.

If you would like me to guide you in the right direction, you can ask me. But you have to motivate yourself. "You can lead the horse to the water, but you can't make the horse drink"

Wha?!!? I did not know you still watched me...

I guess what I was thinking was to take an informal class with someone. Taking a formal college class is too brutal for me. But I will think about it now that this is presented to me again (was in the back of my mind to begin with but I ignored it).

What kind of art destroys artistic progress? :?

I think I heard of this technique before. One of the last things I did in art class. I shall think about this.

Variety and skill.

Skill will come to you as you learn new things-- we are all learning-- I myself have so many skills I have yet to master.

Variety-- well....can you compose something that is not animal? Or have you done it before but just not posting it here? If you show others that you have variety- they will be more inclined to commission you.

Hm... I can't say any one thing in particularly. Your anatomy and shading is quite good after all. All you lack is general skill level. That last "umf" (for the lack of a better word)

I guess one thing that I see many get off on, is a telling image. Your images are spectacular, but is usually just a random act or just standing there. (I do that often too.. to often) To have an image tell a whole story without having to many elements, now thats talent! (And honestly you have it at times! That older image, eye of the storm I believe was it's name. one could see so many possible stories there. Was Aerisis making the storm, awaiting it or was it something else? It made you think, and drew you in to the image in an incisive way)

Other than that all I can suggest is trying other techniques and styles to get a bigger specter. Learning one style can help you grow in others, just by seeing it differently.

As for commissions, what you could try is remove all "I wont do"'s if you don't want to scare people off. Yiff and other sex related can stay if your against it. But as for others, take the challenge! It might help you learn, even if you don't generally want to draw similar, and I've heard from people I know whom knows you that the only reason they wont take one, even thou they love your style, is all the don'ts. I bet it would be a great learning experience, and just tell the commissioner that your not used to that subject so the quality might be lesser. I would put it in words in the don'ts that you don't take any form for erotic images. That rules out all the nasty subject with one stroke ;)

You've come a great way, and a long way it was. But the last bit is the steepest and hardest, as now you walk past the same roads running in a circle in a hard to maneuver forest. Finding the last roads to pick up the last peaces is hard, as they are well hidden amongst so many others. But to find those last few roads you have to just continue walking the same roads hoping to find them along the way.
I just made that up, but makes sense, right?

Oh my, you are an impressive artist. I can see why you think I am not very good. I should really listen to you.

Well, I am making a list of things to do (trying to homeschool myself again). Is there anything specific yet slightly general that you would recommend?
